PGI Members – I have great news to share for many aspects of our convention. Here are details on topics we have been receiving questions about.
We have several seminars available, vending of Class C is happening, and this year the vendors have a strong inventory of materials to bring. The trade show is running out of availability due to the number of vendors coming and this is an air-conditioned, easy access space.
There will be a people mover or tram wagon that goes around at regular intervals during the convention. Look for the times and places it will stop to pick-up and let-off folks once you get on site. It will be running about every 20-minutes throughout the day, stopping at several key areas of the site.
The next bulletin is being finalized and it will be mailed out first class to PGI members not attending convention and will be available AT CONVENTION for those registered. Remember much of the key information will also be on the website with some there now. Due to a variety of factors, there should have been two more bulletins sent out before the convention. The next bulletin, which is usually later in the year, is now going to be soon after the convention to get things back on track for five bulletins this year (expected in September with a September 1 deadline for entries).
Folks are already making and planning their donations to the cracker burn. Adam Keeley (email@example.com) is coordinating this event again this year. The Class C vending area will have a donation box set aside so you can buy cracker strings all week and add them to the box.
Contact Adam to lend a hand in helping make this year’s Cracker Burn another great aspect of the Friday night events.
The convention schedule is almost complete with the goal of publishing it to the PGI website and mailing list the week of July 18th. This will include the seminar schedule. Pre-registration for the remaining classes that offer it will start Sat July 23rd at Noon central time. Onsite registration will be held Sunday, July 31st at 1PM.
A preliminary schedule is now up on the PGI member's Facebook page and our PGI website (see the Convention|Seminars & Info tab).
Our convention will go live on Whova 10-days before the convention starts. Look for it to be active on July 20th. You can already create your account so it is active, and then you can access the uploaded PGI convention information once it is released. We will be providing the login code for our convention once our information is loaded into the Whova system.
Very Important: Volunteer & Information Booth
This year Kate Johannessen will help us with volunteer coordination. We plan to have a booth or area where she will be located so that you can get information and provide your information to be a volunteer. The volunteer form is also available at https://www.pgi.org/sites/default/files/2022%20PGI%20Volunteer%20Sign-up%20Form.pdf
Convention registration is still open with payment by credit card as the deadline for paying by check has passed. You can also register at the Convention by credit card (checks not accepted at Convention).
PGI Showcase Builders (previously, the PGI All-Stars)
Just a reminder you can still help the PGI Showcase Builders out by donating money or materials. Contact any of these guys who are organizing this group. See the information below about what they have already done.
David Maschino, Chair
Tom Sklebar, Co-Chair
Jim Widmann, Co-Chair
Please also be thinking about what you can contribute to the PGI Auction. Each year this brings in several thousand dollars for the PGI due to your generosity in donating and then bidding. Bring items that you value, and those others would bid on, and get them to Carol Hostetter (2ndVP@pgi.org) once you are on site.
Evening Fireworks Display Schedule
We have a great display lineup planned for this convention. It is not completely finalized so we do not want to announce it just yet. The display nights are Sunday, Tuesday, members only JPA on Wednesday, and Friday nights.

All pre-registration will close, and the preregistration online system will be shut down. Any registrations received, by mail or via email, after that date; will not be processed. It will then be necessary to register at the convention (NOTE: checks are not accepted).
Pre-registered members can begin to pick up their credentials on Friday, July 29th from 2-5 pm in the registration building. If you are pre-registered, and you arrive after registration closes any evening, you will be issued a temporary badge by Security. The temporary badge must be exchanged the following morning for your permanent convention credentials.
On behalf of the PGI Board, see you in Newton!
