April 2022 Article for Pyropage Post

This past weekend was the Spring Planning Meeting for our upcoming 2022 PGI Convention, “Thunderstruck” This will be our 49th convention. The PGI started 53 years ago, and then started holding a convention a few years later. New sites require dealing with a variety of details and can make these planning meetings challenging. The advance work that was already done and then the work during the meeting allowed the planning for this convention to keep making great progress.

On Sunday, May 1st the online registration will open for the 2022 PGI Convention, “Thunderstruck”. The convention registration form will be available on the website on May 1st.

Take advantage of the lower registration price until June 1, 2022.

The preparations for the convention are coming together and one of the fun aspects of our annual convention is the Trade Show. Nick D’Ambrosia is encouraging vendors to get their applications into him for the Trade Show. The first applications submitted get the best vendor wall locations and avoid potential late fees. Applications are on the website at this link- https://www.pgi.org/sites/default/files/Trade%20Show%20Table%20Request_042022.pdf

Remember we will be using the Whova app for an electronic version of the convention schedule and daily news updates. You can download the app now and create your account to be ready to log into the PGI section once we have finished populating that site. A team of folks will work with this, so it stays current and accurate leading up to and during our convention.

We are not ready to announce the display schedule yet, but we have great displays lined up for Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday nights of the convention. Junior Pyros are on Wednesday, and they are working on new facets to their presentation. More on all this as we get closer to the convention time.

Please note there will be a music concert each night we have a public display. These are part of your registration for the convention. Watch for more information on what bands will be playing and when tickets for the public will go on sale at https://www.newtoniowamainstreet.com/pgi-2022. The public gets to come in their area at 5 pm to hear the band (should start around 7 pm) and then they will see our evening fireworks display. Tickets for the public to attend are $20 per person for each of the nights we have a fireworks display.

Maps and more information about this new site will be sent out these next couple of months, so watch for them and take notice of how you will be able to navigate on this site.

On behalf of the PGI Board,

Paul
