PGI Golf Cart and Gator Policy
To the ensure the safety of all members and guests, the board has
adopted a policy that limits the use of motorized vehicles including
golf carts, “gators”, motorcycles, mopeds, etc. Other than approved
Convention staff, only persons who require a cart for medical reasons
will be allowed to operate motorized vehicles within the perimeter of
the Convention site, not including parking areas, excepting your
personal cars, where that vehicular traffic is allowed. The site affords
you the opportunity to use your cars to travel between the vending areas
and a few other limited areas: up, down, and over the hill, to
manufacturing areas, during permitted hours, etc. Please be responsible
in adhering to these restrictions.
In order for a person to receive permission to use a golf cart
for medical reasons, a member will be required to follow the procedure
outlined below:
1) The member must have a handicapped
license/permit/identification issued by the state or province in which
they reside.
2) The member will need to submit a copy of their valid PGI
membership card and a copy of the license/permit/identification in order
to be approved.
3) All requests for golf cart use must be submitted to the
Fire/Medical Chairman by July 23, 2011 to ensure adequate time to
process the request. Only emergency requests for golf cart use will be
considered at the Convention, final determination of need will be made
by the Fire/Medical Chairman in consultation with PGI physicians. Lack
of preparation does not constitute an emergency.
4) After registering at Convention, the member will be need
to meet with the Fire/Medical Chairman at the Fire/Medical Headquarters
(White Shipping Container/Mobile Office) to receive a cart
identification tag and be provided with the information on how to rent a
cart. Renting a cart will be your responsibility entirely. PGI will
neither obtain nor rent carts for handicapped members. Meeting times
will be posted at the registration area.
5) The cart identification tag must be placed upon the rental
cart once it is picked up by the member.
6) The member to whom the cart identification tag was issued to
must be in the cart at all times it is in use. Convention ID cards will
be uniquely marked to indicate a person who is entitled to medical cart
use.
7) If a cart is observed and used without the appropriate member
in the cart, Security or Fire/Medical will have the cart brought to the
Fire/Medical trailer. The cart will only be released to the member who
is permitted to use it. If unapproved use of the cart occurs a second
time, the member may forfeit the privilege of the using the cart for the
remainder of the Convention, at the discretion of the Board as advised
by the Chairman of Fire-Medical.
